JC MapsA map made by a neighbor
JC Maps began with a question that many neighbors seem to have had too: wouldn't it be easier to see what's happening around Jersey City in one place?
The idea
Bring events from local calendars, organizers and flyers onto one map, organized by date and place. Look for something to do today, make weekend plans, or discover an event you wouldn't have thought to search for.
It's an independent, non-commercial project, free to use, with no ads and no sign-up.
About the person behind it
Hi, I'm Katerina Samwell. I've lived in Jersey City since 2020. I'm a mom of two, a researcher and a former CTO. I started out in neuroscience research, then moved into computer vision and applied AI, building technology for real-world problems.
When I'm trying to find somewhere to take the kids or meet friends, I often end up searching through calendars, flyers and group chats. I started JC Maps to make that everyday task easier—and to help people notice more of what the city has to offer.
I'm also interested in small civic-tech projects that make public information easier to use and bring neighbors together.

How the map works explains where events come from. What's new has notes about improvements, and Get involved is where you can share an event or help out.
